Blogging Carnivals
Of the many ways to promote a blog one of the hardest is to get on a listing of good blogs by topic. For every new link you create a fair amount of time is spent on finding a good blog to comment on, a good post in a forum to add your say, or a tedious process of submission to directories or article banks. I just discovered another. Blog Carnivals. Blogs have so many varied topics. A Blog Carnival typically collects links to blog posts on one particular topic. Similar to a magazine, a Blog Carnival has a title, a topic, editors, contributors, and it's readers. Generally if you are creating one you will make editions of the carnival that come out on a regular basis for example every Tuesday, or on one day of the month. Each "edition" is like a tumblog that gives the links with a short description of the posts and often added editorial comments. If there is a topic you are interested in, following it's carnival is a great way to find other bloggers that are talking about it. If you are posting on the topic, you can share your work and gain some exposure by joining other bloggers in each carnival edition. |
